Feel Good Friday/2

Black or white head also referred to as acne commonly afflict teenagers at the time of puberty.

Mostly everyone has been through this and needless to say that mainly people remember this harrowing phase as a period of experiment with multiple products both medicinal and non medicinal. Twenty percent of individuals with acne develop severe disease which can result in physical scarring and mental and emotional stress. Although a number of products are available without prescription for acne treatment these may not be very safe.

The FDA, US Drug Regulatory Authority,  has issued a warning that certain over-the-counter topical acne products, includingProactivNeutrogenaMaxClarityOxyAmbiAveeno, and Clean & Clear may cause rare but serious and potentially life-threatening allergic reactions or severe irritation. Users who experience hypersensitivity reactions such as throat tightness, difficulty breathing, feeling faint, or swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue or who develop hives or itching should stop using the products and seek immediate emergency medical attention.

It is important to understand the condition, the treatment options available and also to consult a dermatologist before experimenting with products available in the market.

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. Acne usually appears on your face, neck, chest and back. Acne may be worsened by infection of inflamed follicle by bacteria

Various topical and systemic drugs are available for treatment. Most common are adapalene and clindamycin used topically. Oral contraceptives  pills can be used for treatment as well.

I agree. Because of the increasing beauty products now, everyone's trying everything without even looking if it would be okay for their skin type.

I remember a news here in the Philippines about a woman who tried to use different beauty product for her face and it turned out bad. Her face bloated and well, she needed some serious medication/operation.

May this post serve a warning especially for the beauty product bloggers to always check first the products sent to you or you will be blogging out because it might cause you problems.

It is interesting to note that a lot of physical ailments like acne can actually be because of mental tension. But a good diet too sure is needed for a clean skin. Good informative post.

Well, beauty comes with a price... and a compromise if you're not careful

Careful of the ingredients in skincare. Slow progress is better than instant progress i suppose.

I read somewhere that products with microbeads clog the pores instead of helping remove the dirt. There are too many products in the market and it does get confusing which one to use. I guess the trick is knowing when to stop using them once you see unfavorable effect on the skin.

It's very dangerous when using skin products without reading the manual first. It's very alarming worldwide.

Allergy is really a risk when we take any sort of medication. When we use something for the first time, we should really observe for any adverse reactions.

The best of international companies often come out with products that are dangerous. We as cautious consumers should always check the labels before buying.

We need to be careful and it's better to use natural products with no harmful chemicals.

Your photo is so irrelevant! Haha, acne and pimple has been my main source of trouble for the past few years. I tried natural products once but it cost more pimples and purging than before!

No one likes acne. It's best to still consult with a dermatologist before putting anything on one's skin. Hygiene is also important to help prevent this skin condition.

I am always surprised when I read stories about people getting hurt by uncertified beauty products. We all have to careful because unscrupulous people are always looking for ways to make a buck.

It's always always a good idea to stop using a product once there is a hint of redness after application, then report it to the company's hotline so they know there's something wrong with their products.

Haha! Lol on that wellness bit! :D Made my day! Anyway, I'm lucky to not have dealt with severe acne, but I had a phase with a mild case. It definitely affected my self-esteem, so I can just imagine the anxiety others with a more serious case have to deal with. Sigh. Anyway, it's definitely helpful to research more and be aware of harmful ingredients, not only in skincare, but in everything we put on ourselves or worse, ingest.
