Are we today farther from God and closer to dust?

Where is the Life we have lost in living?
Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?
Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?
The cycles of Heaven in twenty centuries
Bring us farther from GOD and nearer to the Dust.
                                                                               T.S. Eliot

We live in a world of 'instants' today.
Instant contact, instant food, instant fame, instant news, instant bookings , instant deliveries.. etc , etc ..thus making our lives very fast paced.

Where advances in technology give us instant solutions to most of our problems , are we missing out on simple pleasures of doing things leisurely?

Have we forgotten the joy of choosing the perfect pen, the prettiest ink, the secluded corner, the best paper to write down those precious words, taking care to carefully fold the paper, walking down leisurely to the mail box and waiting in anticipation till the letter was received?

Are we losing our own creativity /individuality to the options being offered to us?

The borders between countries are being reduced to only geographic lines as in this age there are no limits to how and when people interact. But with all of these advances are we all slowly moving towards the desire of owning/wanting the same things ? Are we losing our individuality to what we are being fed as the best?

Are our cities world over losing their uniqueness and turning into replicas?  Are we today farther from God and closer to dust?

I agree 100% with this post .. we are living in an "Instant" world. It's like people hardly have time to give God thanks for the small everyday miracles

Very touching post. Actually forced me to stop and think for two minutes. I did not comment "instantly" :)

We all have God in our hearts, some of us just forgot we all shine with a Divine light. It is high time we rose above the veil of blindness and return to spirituality. And we should believe in ourselves more as representatives of God here on Earth.

Yes it's a world of instant gratification but doubt very much if that is diluting creativity.

Amazing quotes and so sadly so true of our time. I prefer to stay closer to God but so many prefer the dust.

Yes unfortunately we are living in an instant world where we are losing our social skills and forget to see the beauty in everyday things. Hopefully we'll realise what we are missing out on before it is too late !

I have really noticed that it is so hard to get my children to write something or draw something using good old pen and paper. I hope I can snap them out of this!

That's true. Since most things are automated, we forget to be a little more creative in our dealings.

Most of us are so used to instant gratification that when we have to wait a minute longer, we get agitated. We have to consciously take a step backwards sometimes to appreciate the beauty around us and be thankful for what we have

God wanted us to use our minds and hearts in forwarding our lives to the future. Even though our environment and attitude changes into "instant" thing, still, my faith doesn't falter to be with HIM.

There is something so special about writing a letter on an actual card. I still send hand written cards to friends and family, and they are always so shocked to get it!

There are people who still closer to God. At the same time, there are also who aren't. Because everyone has different thought.

I agree much that we are living in an 'instant' world. People of today tend to put world things their top priority instead of putting God first in their lives. Good thing salvation is also an 'instant thing' these people should take.
